A few noteworthy Lepidocrocite deposits can be found in Australia, Brazil, England, France, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, and the United States.

Lepidocrocite is one of 295 minerals that have been discovered in meteorites. It is caused by iron oxidation on weathered iron-rich meteorites.

Evaluation :
The mineral Lepidocrocite is a relatively soft mineral, rated at a 5 on the Moh's Scale of Hardness. It has a specific gravity of 4, a submetallic luster, and a yellow-brown streak. The color of Lepidocrocite ranges from a dark yellow, to brown, to brownish-red, to red, to a dark red.
